Talking about craft, there is very little which one cannot do when you have all the material for doing it. Be it drawing, cutting, pasting, glowing, it is all addiction craft. One can create some effortless craft with remarkable effects. All you would require is some minimal craft materials in supply. But with artificial materials there comes an equal risk factor. Words like hazardous, toxic, safety revolve around in your mind.

These days safety is no longer an option in the crafting world it is a compulsory step one has to take with precaution.

Proper knowledge of the craft materials which includes knowing the answer of the questions like, what are the ingredients, how to use them, how to store them? One should know if the materials that they are using are toxic or safe. Here is a list of things one can do in order to ensure your safety while using various craft materials.

a)    Properly read the label of the product that you are purchasing.
b)    Avoid drinking, eating, or smoking while using the art and craft materials
c)    It is always a good practice to wear gloves while handling craft materials and mask while handling sprays and graffiti related materials.
d)    One should always avoid using the products that are meant for food purposes and skin painting for any other reasons but that.
e)    The products which are harmful usually have a label saying warning or caution on the back or the frontal side of them.
f)    If the product having the caution label is of high importance to you, then keep it out of the reach of children.
g)    Avoid keeping the brush or pen and the likes in the mouth. It is always a good practice to keep such materials out of reach from your skin and mouth.
h)    Don’t dispose the covers of the materials by transferring them to different containers. You have the risk of loosing valuable information of the product.
i)    Washing up after the usage of crafts materials is one practice which is of utmost importance and should never be forgotten no matter how trivial it sounds.
j)    Precautionary habit would be to avoid any exposure to cuts and wounds by wearing gloves, safety glasses, mask or any other such accessories.
k)    Never ever keep these craft materials in the exposure of heat, sparks or flames. It is highly inflammable.
l)    Toxicity depends on various criterions. It is a good practice to read the label. Sometimes it might smell bad and still be non-toxic and on the other hand it might smell very pleasant and be highly toxic in nature.
m)    Last but not the least, keep the area around you ventilated. Ventilation helps vacate the old craft materials filled air and makes space for the fresh air which is highly needed.

Health and safety are very important in our day to day lives. Craft materials safety is no exception. Health and safety has taken the face of responsibility.

I, personally, wouldn't go to a craft store to buy makeup brushes. Go to MAC, they make a huge range of very good quality brushes that will probably last you several decades.
